4worldlovers: In 1898, Roosevelt left his post as naval secretary to become colonel of the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry, known as the "Rough Riders." Troop 283 is inspired by the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt. We believe that the spirit of adventure is in camping, scouting, and hiking. In 283 we make sure every boy is getting the best experience possible: outdoors, cool air, and having fun. So next time you're thinking boy scouts, think 283.
Our Chartered Organization is also home to Cub Scout Pack 524 and Venturing Crew 2283, offering a path from Cub Scouts all the way through Venturing!
We are currently one of the largest Troops in Arizona, with 6 patrols, 70 scouts and many leaders that help keep our patrol active and running smoothly.
