The official podcast of the Arizona Buddhist Temple hosted on SoundCloud. The purpose of this cast is to spread the teachings of the Dharma and provide different insights into the teachings of the Buddha. I’m open to suggestions on how to be a good uncle.

I have not read or found any books on what it means to be a passable uncle, let alone found a checklist that details what’s required of being a good uncle. There aren’t any flowcharts to follow and few standardized practices. Being a parents for the first time isn’t exactly easy either, as I have discovered over the last two years, but at the very least there are countless books, online forums and strangers coming out of the woodwork to give me unsolicited advice on everything from changing diapers with minimum splash back to finding the nebulous line between bribery and motivation when trying to ween child off of a diet that consists most of oranges. In other words, while being a father isn’t necessarily easy, it’s at least a somewhat defined role in which I can make, hopefully positive, decisions.
