Welcome to the Internet home of the Copper Canyon High School Aztecs. We’re glad you’re here! CCHS is located in Glendale, Arizona and is part of the Tolleson Union High School District. We believe you will find this site to be an enjoyable and effective communication tool between our school and your home. We are proud of our students and teachers and are happy to share all of the great things going on at school today!

Friday night lights are back! If you’re anything like me, then you are having a hard time deciding what you are looking forward to more – football or getting out of the triple-digit weather. What’s most exciting about football this year is that now it’s for everyone, and we are very excited about our girls flag football teams getting in on the action. Whether your family is passionate about sports, performing and visual arts, or any of our numerous clubs and CTE programs, I hope that you are taking the time to come out to our schools and support the students you care about most. Your son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, niece, nephew, or cousin may never fully express to you how much it means to them to see you in the stands, but trust me – your support ignites their passion!

We do this together! We appreciate all of the support we receive from our community, and we are working hard to take that momentum to create the best educational environment possible. This includes exploring new technologies. If you have had any conversations with Google, Alexa, or Siri, then you know our students are growing up in a new world. When we were kids, if you wanted to know what the capital was of a foreign country then you needed to go to the library, use the card catalog to find the right book, and then use the table of contents to find the right page to turn to for the answer. Now, they know the answer faster than you can read that last sentence. We must prepare them for what life looks like in that world.

We know that there will be concerns with everything that artificial intelligence will bring into our lives, so we will be sending out surveys to make sure the majority of the community is comfortable with each step we take. I have several of my cousins in our schools right now, so you can trust that we protect our students like family, but we also understand that everyone has their own comfort level with new technology. Every innovation we implement will be focused on getting them ready for the world that awaits them after graduation day.

I believe that education is a partnership between the school district, parents, caregivers, and the broader community. As we continue in this new academic year, we do so with a sense of optimism and a shared commitment to the success of our students. If I cross paths with you at one of our football games, over at Pete’s grabbing some shrimp and chips, or hanging out at Westgate, then please don’t hesitate to share your ideas on how our schools can increase their chances on preparing your student for future success.
