We are Carla and Bill Howey. We are acting coaches/ teachers. The first of August 2016 we moved from Los Angeles, California to our new home in Chandler, Arizona. Our move to Arizona was motivated by our decision to slow down the intensity of our work schedule from what it’s been for over 30 years in LA and Denver. However, we never want to stop working with actors. From actors just starting out to actors starring on TV or movies we have experienced it all.

We wrote and published a book, The Actors Menu; wrote, directed and produced three movies and helped many actors work toward their goals. Along the way, we developed our effective actor-focused style of teaching and coaching. We’re loving Phoenix and look forward to meeting and working with the actors here.

The Howey’s have conducted extremely successful and effective acting classes together since 1980 in Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO. They are excited to bring their unique and powerful teaching techniques to the actors of Phoenix, AZ.

Our focus is guiding you to present the most convincing character story. It’s important to tell the story that comes from you, not how someone else would tell that story. You have the desire for the acting adventure and at our studio you will discover how to turn that desire into strong character stories.

East Valley Children’s Theatre has been an artistic force in the East Valley for 26 years, through many unique theatrical programs for children of all ages. East Valley Children’s Theatre provides a safe environment for children to gain self-esteem, explore creative outlets and grow and mature into community-minded young adults.

Children’s theater is known to have many benefits—kids learn empathy, critical thinking and how to express themselves. Whether your child is acting, designing a set, or writing a production, he or she will learn how to work with others. Theatre for kids teaches that it’s ok to make mistakes, to try new things and it sparks their imaginations. Kids’ plays help children build lifelong values such as integrity, passion for excellence, respect, and teamwork.

With the disappearance of arts in many schools, it’s important to find artistic outlets for kids outside of the classroom. East Valley Children’s Theatre exposes kids to many works of literature and gets them to ask questions and learn more about renowned authors and playwrights.
