4worldlovers: Swimming Lessons – Our youngest swimmers are aged 3 years old to who start lessons in small groups taught primarily by our high school aged swimmers, who teach them basic skills to create confidence and get them water safe. These lessons are offered April through July.

Spring & Summer Team – The next step to lessons is our Spring and Summer Teams starting in April and finishing in July which are also taught by our high school swimmers but led by our year-round professional staff. These swimmers are introduced to the basic strokes, the fun of being part of a team and an introduction to competition. Many of the swimmers who participate in the Spring and Summer Team go on to sign up for year-round swimming.

USA Club Swimming – The bulk of our members are year-round swimmers who practice several times a week, compete against other teams from across the state and travel to competitions across the country. Our youngest club swimmers are 5 years old and practice twice a week and our high school aged swimmers as many as 9 times a week. Swimmers develop efficient time management skills to be able to balance a rigorous academic schedule along with achieving their athletic goals.

Adult/Masters Swimming – PSC has a very large adult membership with ages ranging from 18-89. Our oldest swimmers come several times a week to practice and also still compete occasionally. Swimming is a lifelong sport and is very beneficial to health and wellness. PSC provides an important service and atmosphere to all those who continue to compete in triathlons and the like and/or just remain active and healthy throughout their adult years.

Post Grad/Professional Swimming – Our professional staff of coaches have attracted some well-known talent to continue training for national and international competitions beyond college. These Olympians continue to compete at the highest level in our sport and have much to offer our swimmers. They also represent PSC in major competitions across the country.

Adult Learn to Swim – PSC is one of only a few places in Arizona that has certified instructors, trained to teach adults. There is a need in the community for adults who never learned to swim and/or have a fear of the water but want to learn to swim. We offer small group classes focusing on specific needs, whether it is learning the basics, overcoming anxiety about being in the water or becoming more efficient with their strokes. We offer these classes in the warm weather months of April through July.

Stroller Strides is a 60-minute, total-body workout that incorporates cardio, strength, and core training, all while engaging and entertaining the little ones in a stroller!

Description: The Freedom Trail is an awesome circumference trail that skirts the base of Piestewa Peak. The trail is moderately difficult and has multiple rocky sections. Trail users may encounter a variety of the native wildlife and an occasional coyote is observed on the trail. The southwestern portion of this loop is shared with the Piestewa Summit Trail. This trail provides spectacular views of the Phoenix metropolitan area. This loop around the entire mountain peak offers great views of Piestewa Peak and other secluded areas near the trailhead. A restroom and drinking fountain are located near the trailhead.

Access: Start at the 302 Trailhead. Proceed to Piestewa Peak Freedom Trail to connect to Piestewa Peak Summit Trail.

Description: The infamous Piestewa Peak Summit Trail is an out and back trail that rewards successful hikers with a three-hundred-sixty-degree view of the Phoenix metropolitan area. While short in length, a little over one mile, the trail is steep, jagged, and consists of multiple switchbacks and modified steps with integrated sections of gravel and rock. This summit trail has been a Phoenix favorite for several decades and is internationally recognized among hiking communities. Water, parking, and restrooms are available at the base of the trail.

Access: Start at the 304 Trailhead. Proceed to Piestewa Peak Nature Trail.

Description: The Piestewa Nature Trail is a magnificent loop trail that allows hikers the opportunity to escape the urban environment for a true Sonoran Desert experience. The trail is moderately difficult and somewhat rocky. Most of the trail skirts a large, deep, wash that provides a home to an assortment of wildlife. Trail users will observe a wide variety of native Sonoran trees and other plant life on this trail. The Piestewa Nature Trail often provides spectacular springtime wildflower viewing. A restroom and drinking fountain are located near the trailhead.

Access:Start at the 304 Trailhead. Proceed to the right on Piestewa Peak Naure Trail. Take another right to proceed to Ruth Hamilton Trail.

Description: The Ruth Hamilton Trail is a short trail that intersects the Quartz Ridge Trail and has a very nice observation bench at the intersection. The western section of this trail offers a number of switchbacks and is moderately rocky. Once the hiker reaches the peak, the trail descends and levels out. Although short, it is moderately popular and offers tremendous views of the downtown corridor and the northern Sonoran mountains. Wildflowers are abundant during the spring.

Access: Start at the 304 Trailhead. Proceed to Piestewa Nature Trail to connect to Perl Charles Memorial Trail. From there, continue to VOAZ Trail.

Description: The VOAZ Trail Starts from Piestewa Peak and offers the shortest path to connect to Dreamy Draw Recreation Area.

Access: Start from 32nd St. Trailhead to connect to to Quartz Ridge Trail. From Quartz Ridge Trail, turn left to proceed to Mojave Connector Trail. From the Connector, proceed to Mojave Trail.

The Mojave Trail is a very popular short out and back trail that climbs a small hill above the Mojave Ramada. The trail is somewhat rocky but is well defined. The Mojave Trail offers wonderful views of the downtown corridor and hikers may observe snakes, rabbits, and a variety of other wildlife. Springtime wildflowers offer a colorful desert experience.

Access: Start from 32nd St. Trailhead to connect to to Quartz Ridge Trail. From Quartz Ridge Trail, turn left to proceed to Mojave Connector Trail.

Description: The Mojave Connector Trail, 202, is a very popular short trail that joins the Mojave Trail, 200, and the Quartz Ridge Trail. This is an out and back trail that allows hikers the opportunity to hike along a wonderful Sonoran Desert trail while providing spectacular downtown scenery. Small wildlife and snakes are occasionally observed on this trail. Trail users will also observe a wide variety of native plants. This is a popular and beautiful trail to hike during the spring wildflower season.
