4worldlovers: Shomrei Torah’s focus is consistency in Jewish communal prayer and practice. In our egalitarian celebration of the Days of Awe, we continue the 3,500 year old Jewish observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Our very reasonable $360 annual household membership includes attendance at the High Holiday services. We have bundled our dues and High Holiday participation together so that we can offer a consistent place to daven together on the High Holidays and on Shabbat and other holidays.

Thank you for visiting our website. Congregation Shomrei Torah is one of the most welcoming synagogues in the Phoenix area and we would be delighted to have you as a member. In addition to High Holiday services, we have weekly shabbat services at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, inviting all congregants to actively participate to the best of their ability. While some may be more comfortable with an English reading, we also have availability to try your hand at being Gabbai or reading Haftorah and Torah with the assistance of the Hazzan if needed. Shomrei Torah offers the chance to grow as a Jew and become a part what we feel is “the friendliest congregation in the Valley.”

Our name, Shomrei Torah, means "Guardians of the Torah". We accomplish this as a caring traditional egalitarian synagogue where each member is valued. As Guardians, we carry the Torah forward at our weekly Shabbat Service where we daven, learn and celebrate joyously under the leadership of Hazzan Bernard Savitz.

If you are a snow-bird from the colder parts, or recently moved to the Phoenix area, you are always welcome at Shomrei Torah to continue your Jewish connection in your travels or relocation.

Being a smaller congregation, we provide the unique opportunity to offer interactive services where we check in with each other and celebrate Kiddush which our members have made or bring a fruit or sweet. Come participate and you will join us in being a Guardian of the Torah in celebrating Shabbat or the Haggim.

Join Temple Beth Emeth of Scottsdale, committed to the principles of Judaism in Scottsdale, Arizona. We formed in 1983 with the concept of forming an independent, traditional synagogue that is committed to authentic faith, a fully democratic administration, a spirit of Chavurah, equality of women, and affordable membership. Everyone is welcome at services regardless of Jewish background or knowledge of Hebrew.

While the Congregation has held services and events in various locations, we have always called Scottsdale “home”. When we moved to our current location, the Torahs were walked to the new location on foot. The gala dedication of the new site and mounting of the Mezuzot took place with the participation of the Mayor of Scottsdale, Mary Manross, Rabbi Albert Plotkin, Rabbi Mark Bisman, and Rabbi Robert Kravitz.
