4worldlovers: Located in Surprise, Ariz., 25 miles northwest of Phoenix, Surprise Stadium is the Spring Training home to the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. Surprise Stadium seats 10,500 fans and is located on a 124-acre site that includes six full practice fields and a half field, as well as separate clubhouse and office facilities.

Opened in 2002, Surprise Stadium hosts several Cactus League games each spring.

Field dimensions of Surprise Stadium are 350 feet down the lines, 379 feet in the power alleys and 400 feet to center field.

Surprise Stadium features a variety of seating options from grass seating areas in the outfield to club seats on the stadium's second level. The stadium is handicap accessible and is served by nearby parking areas and a variety of concessions.

Bloom Where You’re Planted is an 18-foot tall, mirror-polished steel saguaro cactus. The piece features spring cactus blooms that illuminate at night. As a tribute to our city’s founder Flora Statler, her image is located in the back of the cactus, visible through an open Dutch door, inviting visitors to approach and share their dreams and wishes with her.


The walls feature a saguaro cactus, wildflowers and a cactus wren, the state bird. The concept from Weitzman Studios surrounds and secures the Public Safety Evidence and Readiness Center, a Police and Fire Training Facility and was designed to be contextually representative of the local, natural environment.


Courage Walk 308, at Fire Station 308, is a walkable art piece at the southeast corner of Litchfield and Cactus roads. Metal panels with the word “courage” cut out, pay tribute to the critical operations that occur within this 14,000-square-foot, multi-bay facility, and the men and women who provide these services.


Located on the north-facing exterior of the Surprise Aquatic Center, Swimming with Porpoise captures the fun, freedom and adventure associated with water activities. Surprise residents selected the mural from among two concepts; it was painted by street artist BacPac in summer 2020.


Asante Library is now home to this southwestern-style art piece by Joe Tyler! It pays tribute to Arizona’s early years, and the five economic drivers that transformed our state: copper, cattle, cotton, citrus and climate.


The theme of this piece is teamwork. It pays tribute to the men and women whose everyday efforts are critical to not only the ongoing operations at the facility, but to the continuing success and growth of the City. Through working together, we increase the power and impact we make in our community.


The artists transformed an existing sign, which included colored glass and shiny metal. The sign was deconstructed and altered to have some rustic and raw finishes, creating a look of a work in progress. Sculptures of people working by the sign were added, giving emphasis to the idea of people coming together to build something. The piece was completed in February 2021.

This stunning art piece includes a 6-foot-tall bronze firefighter statue on a 2-foot platform. The designers, Logan Simpson Design and WERK Urban Design, ordered a 3D scan of a Surprise firefighter uniform so the look would be authentic to the city’s uniform. The statue was created by artist Trevor O’Tool. Watch a time-lapse video of the creation process. Behind the firefighter is a colorful mural of a firetruck that was painted on 10-foot-tall wall panels by artist Geremy Cites. Another metal panel sits separately with the Surprise Fire-Medical motto, “Always There, Always Ready.” The art installation was completed in March 2021.
