4worldlovers: Silver Lining Riding’s Adaptive Riding and Adaptive Horsemanship programs focus on teaching riding and horsemanship skills while challenging students physically, cognitively, and socially.


A disability does not have to limit a person from riding horses. In fact, experiencing the motion of a horse can be very therapeutic. Horseback riding rhythmically moves the body in a manner similar to a human gait, and students with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance, and muscle strength. Healing with Horses, in conjunction with Therapy Hooves, is an innovative program that uses human-animal interactions to address the physical, emotional, psychological, and educational needs of individuals with mental health issues.


The benefits of animal therapy are numerous. Interaction with animals in a safe and controlled environment encourages empathy, improves focus, provides mental stimulation, presents opportunities for socialization, and can contribute to the physical well-being of the participant.


Animal Assisted Activities (AAA) provide opportunities for motivational, educational, and/or recreational benefits to enhance the participant’s quality of life. Participants may choose to groom, walk, or read to a horse (miniature or full size) under the supervision of trained volunteers. Therapy dogs registered through Pet Partners will also be available.


Drive to Ride is an online fundraising campaign led by our Silver Lining Riding students and their families, and is a great way to reduce their session fees.


Students register to participate–click HERE to get started. We will create a custom webpage for each student that registers for the campaign. Once created, students can share their webpage with family and friends to raise money.
