Unfortunately, this year's Flor Loca crop (the avocado crop that grows from June to September in Michoacán) is facing an extreme market situation. We regret to inform you that there are virtually no larger-sized fruits available, with sizes 48ct, 40ct, and 36ct completely absent from the current supply. The primary cause of this issue is attributed to warmer weather and a lack of rain in the lower elevation growing regions of Michoacán, Mexico.

When fruit experiences reduced precipitation and warmer weather during its growth phase, it tends to peak in smaller sizes, such as 60ct and 70ct. Therefore, we highly recommend that any of our customers who have the flexibility to shift to smaller-sized fruit do so immediately. This strategic shift will not only help maintain availability throughout August and September but also enable us to offer the best pricing on Hass avocados.

It is important to note that we anticipate the pricing of 48ct and larger sizes to surpass $100 per case in the very near future. To avoid these escalated costs, we encourage you to take advantage of significant savings by transitioning to the smallest fruit sizes that can be efficiently utilized in your operations.

Regrettably, we expect a limited supply of larger fruit until the main Mexican crop, named Aventajada, begins in late September. However, rest assured that we will continue to keep you informed about the situation as the season progresses.
