The official podcast of the Arizona Buddhist Temple hosted on SoundCloud. The purpose of this cast is to spread the teachings of the Dharma and provide different insights into the teachings of the Buddha. Every cast is a brief introduction of Buddhist concepts, followed by a Dharma message written by one of the temple ministers.

I’m open to suggestions on how to be a good uncle.

I have not read or found any books on what it means to be a passable uncle, let alone found a checklist that details what’s required of being a good uncle. There aren’t any flowcharts to follow and few standardized practices. Being a parents for the first time isn’t exactly easy either, as I have discovered over the last two years, but at the very least there are countless books, online forums and strangers coming out of the woodwork to give me unsolicited advice on everything from changing diapers with minimum splash back to finding the nebulous line between bribery and motivation when trying to ween child off of a diet that consists most of oranges. In other words, while being a father isn’t necessarily easy, it’s at least a somewhat defined role in which I can make, hopefully positive, decisions.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. By cleaning our hands and feet before we enter the Gurdwara we sanitize our bodies so we can cleanse our spirits.

Guru Nanak Dwara was founded in 1970 as an Ashram (spiritual learning center) committed to practicing both the Sikh way of life and Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. In the early days, many of those attracted to Guru Nanak Dwara were the soul-searching youth of the consciousness revolution. "Edit April 2022: Four years have lapsed since I wrote my review and since I was last in Tempe to check in on my belongings. I am dropping my rating from 5 stars to 1. Where the facilities were once spotless, I arrived yesterday to conditions being the dirtiest I have seen them since I began renting here. I specifically moved from an outside unit to an inside unit to protect from excessive dust and for the evap cooling. I am storing a large art installation and everything was covered in thick dust, the hallways were filthy and items stored in boxes very warm to the touch on a day that was under 90 degrees. The coolers were not running and doors at both ends of the hallway open to the outside (people - pull down doors when you are done accessing your unit). My rent has increased steadily each year yet the conditions have significantly deteriorated. I cannot recommend AZ Storage anymore.
