Sabino Road Baptist Church views children as a gift from God. We want to focus our attention on preparing them for the leadership that they will provide in the future, and to teach them from God's Word.

4worldlovers: Dr. Jerry Day will present a special 2-hour parenting seminar on Sunday, Oct. 1, beginning at 2:00 pm. Jerry is a retired clinical psychologist and author of the book "How To Raise Kids You Want To Keep". This seminar will be free to all parents, and you do not need to be a church member to attend.


This seminar will cover different material than the previous seminar, so it doesn't matter if you attended the last one or not. Child care will be available during the seminar, and you will learn valuable techniques that can make your job of parenting more rewarding and productive.


If you are not a church member, you and your kids are most welcome to attend our Sunday worship service that begins at 10:00 am. Our service includes a Kid's Sermon, especially for the children. Mark this special date on your calendar now so you won't forget. ​


Our church recently presented 43 freshly-minted dresses to Dress-A-Girl Southern Arizona to be provided to needy girls. The dresses were all handcrafted with love and skillfully sewn and assembled by a dedicated group of our church members. These were not first... more than 1,000 dresses have been donated o the Dress-A-Girl organization. The Dress-A-Girl ministry meets monthly to work on this worthwhile cause, and they could always use your help. Please call the church office if you are interested in helping.


October may seem far away, but a date has been set for the second annual “Trunk or Treat” event, and planning is now under way. This event will be held on Sunday, October 29, from 2-4 pm.


Last year was the first year for this event, and it was successful far beyond our expectations, as shown in the photos above. More than a thousand kids showed up in their costumes to receive candy, popcorn, and other goodies, and we struggled to keep with the overwhelming crowd.


This year, we will be much better prepared to handle the large number of participants and make the experience even better for the kids and their parents or guardians. Donations of candy are now being accepted (you can also make a cash donation for this event and we’ll buy the candy). We can use all of the volunteer help we can muster, so please consider helping out with this great event.


The crowd that showed up on the evening of Friday, July 21 to hear the country Gospel singing group known as "Lighthouse" was not quite sure exactly what to expect, but it is safe to say that the performance exceed everyone's expectations and nobody went home disappointed. The audience was treated to a powerful and inspirational performance of country gospel classics, hymns, medleys, sing-alongs, and a few surprises as well. The concert was free to attend; however, donations were accepted to benefit several local charities.


​The talent in this local group is first-rate, so we plan to have them back again in the future… check back to this website for details of a future performance! ​


If you sing or play a musical instrument, we have a great opportunity to share your God-given talents. As we expand and build our music ministry, we are seeking additional singers and musicians. If you are interested, please call the church office. Current church members and attendees can sign up in the foyer.

Each year at this time the Women’s Ministry of our church conducts a collection effort to gather socks and other items for those in homeless shelters. Socks are, by far, the most requested and needed clothing item at homeless shelters, and the need for fresh, clean, socks is constant.

This year’s effort, which began in mid-November and recently concluded, yielded extraordinary results, thanks in large part to Copperstate OB/GYN, a local medical group located at 5550 E. Hampton Street, who enthusiastically got behind this effort and made a significant donation. As a result, more than 1,000 pairs of socks were collected and delivered to the Sister Jose Women’s Center shelter in time for Christmas. In addition to the socks, our church also provided personal grooming items, candy canes, a book of John, and funding for a traditional Christmas dinner. Our church is a regular monthly supporter of the Sister Jose Women's Center.

4worldlovers: Canyon Del Oro Bible Church is located in Oro Valley, Arizona on the northwestern edge of Tucson. The church is a member of the Venture Church Network Southwest (formerly Southwest Church Connection) which has been in existence since 1948. The church property adjoins Pusch Ridge of the Catalina Range of the Coronado National Forest and has a view overlooking Oro Valley.

The church was started as a satellite by Palo Verde Baptist Church in central Tucson on property that was given to them by the Egleston family estate. The land donation is restrictive in that the property can be used only for religious and educational purposes. Sixteen acres of the larger parcel were deeded over to CDOBC after incorporation. The remaining land became the home of a Christian high school which became Pusch Ridge Christian Academy when it transferred ownership from Palo Verde Baptist to Catalina Foothills Church.


Pastor Thereon Smith was the primary motivator for our church when he was the pastor of Palo Verde Baptist in the mid-1970’s. For about a year, a few people met in the nearby high school while the building was constructed. Many in the congregation of Palo Verde Baptist gave time, money and labor to build the church. In 1977, when the building was finished, the congregation began to grow. Pastor Smith shared his time between CDOBC and Palo Verde Baptist. About a year later, we called our first pastor, Michael Sandusky, who stayed for a year and a half. There were a number of interim pastors who ministered at CDOBC until they called the next permanent pastor.


Easter, 1983, Pastor J. Daniel O’Donnell and his wife, Jane, began their ministry with us. The church grew to between 200 and 300. Pastor O’Donnell resigned in January, 2000, to begin the work of starting a church in a Phoenix suburb.
