When guests arrive, they are welcomed and offered a nutritious meal. Our team of compassionate advocates works with guests to assess their needs and develop a plan that helps them establish stability and reclaim their lives.

Our Shelter Program is located at the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity, a collaborative campus where over 30 social service organizations work together to holistically address mental, physical, and spiritual issues so that guests can move from homeless to wholeness. Available services include recovery, employment, and housing programs; medical, dental, and mental health care; government benefits, veterans assistance, and children’s services. Shelter guests must be sober and not using any illegal substances. Guests are accepted based on bed availability and without discrimination.

Our shelter is wheelchair accessible. However, shelter guests must be able to get around and take care of their basic needs (dress, shower, eat, etc.).

Our faith-based recovery program helps struggling men and women uncover and address the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental barriers that kept them lost in addiction. Being part of a community is vital for recovery, but we also feel that each person’s journey is unique and should be respected as such. Our guests meet both in groups and in one-on-one sessions with a recovery coach as we come alongside each individual and walk this journey with them, letting them know they are not alone. Our goal is for our guests to find a new beginning with lasting restoration and peace so they can lead fulfilling, productive, and self-sufficient lives.

Successful steady employment is a vital step in moving from homeless to wholeness. Our advocates work with our guests to help them develop a plan that will guide them on the path to self-sufficiency—to overcome barriers to transformation and to become part of the workforce. This might include getting a high school diploma, taking classes in life skills development or computer literacy, and learning how to write a resume and to interview.

Our ultimate goal is for our guests to become self-sufficient. The last step in that process is to find permanent housing, and we connect our guests to a wide range of solutions designed to get them there—needs assessments, financial planning, bus passes, and appointments with housing providers and agencies that help with utilities, rent assistance, and more. We also provide furniture and other household items through our Donation Center so our guests can transition to independent living as smooth as possible.
