This park is budgeted for $4,3 million in 2018 voter-approved general obligation bond dollars. In addition, the City has secured a $500,000 Arizona State Parks ​American Rescue Plan Act Grant for the renovation and development of the park, $150,000 of American Rescue Plan Federal funding for fitness equipment, $220,282 from Tucson Water "Storm 2 Shade" Green Infrastructure funding, and additional funding to complete the projects.

This park features a variety of new amenities, including a new playground with shade, a new ramada, and a splash pad. Come enjoy food, drinks, "Ready, Set, Rec!" activities, and of course, enjoy the new park amenities.

Help Inspire Future Generations Reflect Upon And Honor The Tragic Loss Of Sailors And Marines Killed Aboard The Uss Arizona At Pearl Harbor On December 7, 1941.

The unique open-space design of the citizen funded USS Arizona Mall Memorial is a full-scale outline of the deck of the iconic ship on the university mall consisting of 1,177 brass medallions spaced one foot apart, flush with the lawns and walkways and directly beneath the USS Arizona ship’s bell hanging in the Student Union tower. The design is set just inside the curb, leaving the mall area completely open to all activities.

Each medallion will be inscribed with the sailor or marine’s home state, rank or rating and ship’s duties such as carpenter, cook, boatswain, coxswain, shipfitter, watertender, signalman, or bugler as a record of daily life aboard the Arizona.

REMEMBER 1,177 SAILORS AND MARINES IN THEIR TEENS AND EARLY 20s record of daily life aboard the Arizona.

Above, in reduced scale is the medallion for 17 year-old James Van Horn of Tucson, Arizona. The vast majority of the crew we wish to remember was between 17 and 22 years old on December 7th.
