4worldlovers: We are located in the North Tempe/South Scottsdale area, just north of ASU where there are high numbers of youth and teens living in the community. Opened in 2006, we now primarily serve youth from Shamley Elementary School, McClintock High School, Tempe High School, and Integrity Charter School. Shamley Elementary also has the largest ESL population in the Tempe School District, with over 40% having English as their second language.

You can now register online or in the Club for school year and Summer Programs. If you are a new member, your registration will have to be approved by Club staff before you can complete your registration. This typically happens within 48 hours. David earned his State license to sell Life Insurance in the state of Arizona. David came to Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development's Learning Center through outreach efforts of the Tumbleweed Drop-In Center (DIC). The DIC provides services to homeless individuals ages 18-22 including case management, showers & meals.


The DIC is just ONE of the MANY continuum of care services Tumbleweed provides 1,000's of youth each year in Maricopa County.


During David's tenure in Tumbleweed continuum of care programs, he has progressed from BEING HOMELESS & UNEDUCATED to ATTAINING HIS GED, STABLE HOUSING and on his way to ESTABLISHING a CAREER!


Angelena was referred to our Tumbleweed Learning Center through Tumbleweed's Young Adult Program (YAP). She went from being homeless to attaining her GED through our Learning Center as well as completing Data Entry School, where she earned an Occupational Skills Certificate. Today, she successfully secured a job with CHASE Financial services and is doing amazingly well.

Every year Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development must raise more than $500,000 from our local community to make ends meet & provide matching funds required to receive our Federal Grants that leverage over $3.5 Million back to Arizona through Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development's programs and services. YOUR SUPPORT goes to support ALL the successes's of these amazing young people!


Since 1972 Tumbleweed has expanded to provide more than 12 direct service programs that provide a continuum of care for over 3000 homeless, abused, abandoned, neglected, and at risk youth annually, ages 11-22 in Maricopa County, AZ. We work with youth and families in crisis.


That HAD been provided by Tumbleweed and funded by State or County dollars will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE to the community next year.
